Tom's comments - Really nice hotel with an indoor pool near the bar. Upper-Mupears often stay here.

Why pick this place - The Bel Aire is near the Peninsula and all the beaches. The indoor pool is cool with a big shallow end and a nice bar - perfect for minding the kids. Sometimes the Mupears get to be a bit much, but just mention the Pirates and their humility is restored.

Tom's comments - Really nice, brand new hotel on the bay. Breathtaking views. Fancy rooms and fluffy beds. Hotshot bar with pricy drinks - a Guinness sells for $6.00. Indoor gym, some good foodies and a sauna. Next door is an outdoor restaurant - good breakfast sticky buns and strong coffee to offset bay breeze. Morning walks go by the New Family brick on the bay-walk.     

Why pick this place - You want a first class Erie treatment and the difference in price between the Sheraton and the Avalon is the price of a case of Guinness.

Tom's comments - An okay hotel. Some rooms are refinished some are waiting to be refinished. Some views are of rooftop air conditioners and some views are of the Erie Playhouse. The Avalon replaced the Lawrence Hotel and John Kennedy announced that he was a candidate for president here in 1959. Kennedy and the Lawrence are both gone.

Why pick this place - You can safely walk to and from the reception.
